Poetry Slam
Welcome to the CARICON Poetry Slam!
We are excited to invite poets age 16 and older to participate in this exciting event. The CARICON Poetry Slam is a platform for poets to showcase their work and compete for prizes, while celebrating the power and beauty of poetry.
Whether you are an experienced poet or just starting out, we encourage you to apply to be a part of this dynamic event. You will have the opportunity to share your poetry with a live audience, receive feedback from judges, and connect with other poets and poetry lovers from around the Caribbean.
Here's what you need to know to apply
1. Age Requirement: Applicants must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the CARICON Poetry Slam.
2. Application Deadline: The application deadline is March 30th, 2023. All applications must be submitted by this date in order to be considered.
3. Poem Requirements: Applicants must submit one original poem that is no longer than three minutes in length. The poem can be on any topic or theme, but it must be appropriate for a general audience.
4. Judging Criteria: Poems will be judged on the following criteria: originality, creativity, technical skill, and performance. Judges will be looking for poems that are engaging, impactful, and well-crafted.
5. Biography & Headshot: Each applicant should provide a 100 word biography and a headshot along with their application. The bio should include information about the applicant's background, writing experience, and any other relevant information that they would like to share with the judges and audience. The headshot should be a clear, high-quality photograph of the applicant that will be used for promotional purposes if they are selected to participate in the CARICON Poetry Slam.
6. Prizes: All participants will receive the CARICON poetry slam medal. The Slam winner will receive a 3 Night Caribbean Vacation, the CARICON Poetry Slam Trophy and other prizes, as well as the opportunity to perform their winning poem at the next CARICON Poetry Slam event.
